Everything You Need To Know About The GM Diet
What is the GM Diet?
The GM Diet has been around for ages now. It is widely speculated that the diet was invented by General Motors to increase the productivity and efficiency of employees and also help maintain healthy body weight. The reason why the GM Diet is immensely popular is that it promises to help you loose up to 6 kgs in a week! Each day of the diet allows you to eat different foods which makes this diet relatively easy and doable.
How Does The GM Diet Work?
GM Diet is nothing like the keto diet which requires you to cut down on your carb intake instead it requires you to eat specific foods items on dedicated days for a week.
DAY 1 Of GM Diet
This is your Fruit Day. You can eat any fruit of your choice except Banana. Fruits which have high water content such as melons and citrus fruits are highly recommended along with apples as it is a negative calorie fruit. Negative calorie means that apples take more calories to get digested than what they provide you with. You also need to consume at least 8-12 glasses of water in order to keep yourself hydrated.
DAY 2 Of GM Diet
This is your Vegetables Day. You can have your vegetable either cooked with 1 teaspoon of oil/butter or you can also have them raw/boiled. In addition to vegetables, you also need to have 1 large boiled potato preferably in the morning. 8-12 glasses of water is again mandatory on this day.
DAY 3 Of GM Diet
Today you can have both fruits and vegetables. The rule remains the same – all veggies, cooked or uncooked (with 1teaspoon oil/ low-fat butter) + fruits except bananas and potatoes. Don’t forget to keep yourself hydrated (8-12 glasses). Also, you’re not allowed dairy, grains, meats, or lentils.
DAY 4 Of GM Diet
Today you will have the fruit that was restricted all this while- Banana. Today’s diet only consists of 8-10 Bananas and 4 glasses of Milk. Also, don’t forget your 8-12 glasses of water.
Day 5 Of GM Diet
This day is going to be tough for people (like me) who hate eating Tomatoes. Todays menu is 6 Tomatoes and 1 Bowl of rice (preferably brown). Non-vegetarians can opt for chicken breast or fish (up to 500grms) in case they don’t want to eat Brown rice. The diet also recommends having the GM Diet Soup during dinner which is made up of onions, tomatoes, cabbage, green peppers and celery with some salt, pepper, vinegar, lemon juice, and herbs. You can obviously eliminate the ingredients that you don’t have or get, but try to incorporate all of the above into the soup. Now, because you’ll be having a large number of tomatoes make sure you increase your water intake to 12-15 glasses of water as tomatoes are known to produce some acids in our stomach. So, in order to combat the situation, hydration is a must.
Day 6 Of GM Diet
Today you’ll be having 1 cup of Brown rice along with Cooked or Uncooked Vegetables but without Oil. Non Vegetarians again can opt for Chicken or Fish (up to 500grms) instead of Brown Rice.
Day 7 Of GM Diet
On the last day of The GM Diet, you can have any vegetable and all fruit juices along with 1 Cup of Brown Rice. Avoid potato, sweet potatoes, bananas, mangoes and pears, dairy, poultry and non-vegetarian items as well as beans, lentils, and mushrooms.
GM Diet Do’s and Dont’s
Once you are done with one week of GM diet plan, it is advised to have high protein and low-carb meal the following week. Also, avoid eating junk food as it will only accelerate your weight gaining process. The GM Diet can be followed multiple times but I would personally advise you to take a gap of 4-5 weeks. Although the GM Diet is highly effective it can have some side effects on your metabolism and overall immunity system.
